The school where my wife is band director won their first football game of the season tonight! We won 14-7! (A missed PAT and a two-point conversion on top of our two touchdowns to their one touchdown) The score should have been more lop-sided to that, as we got HOMERED to death out there. The refs were blantantly withholding calls on the home team, and calling crap on our team that was ridiculous. They called a FACEMASK on us after the PLAYER WAS DOWN! Meaning the ball, and the play was dead. I can see uneccesary roughness, if it happened, but it didn't. They also ignored numerous pass interferences, but called it on us, once when there wasn't even a receiver anywhere near the ball.
Yelling at the refs helped my take my mind off of wanting to yell at the band kids, a few of whom are ruining the whole experience, including the drum major, who needs to be kicked out.
We didn't get to march on the field today, as it was the other team's homecoming. Oh well, that allowed me to yell my head off, as I didn't have to worry about announcing at halftime.
Overall, a fun night!
I get to yell my head off again tomorrow at the Embassy Suites as my OU club meets to cheer on the Sooners against the Red Raiders of Texas Tech It should be interesting with the Arkansas fans already there cheering on the Hogs against the Gators.
