The 5 1/2 Million Dollar Mistake.
Great googly moogly, the NBA actually did the right thing. It was announced today that Ron Artest has been suspended for the rest of the season for his over-the-top response to the attack of the killer beer.
ESPN is reporting that his childish outburst will set back Artest a total of 5.5 Million dollars in salary.
Looks like he'll have plenty of time to promote that rap album, and it saddens me to think that most likely, he'll probably end up making back those millions and more from the sale of his album to gullible young people who think he has something worthwhile to say to them. Artest did all his talking in Detroit, as actions speak louder than rap lyrics. Face it, Ron, you got Punk'D by some fool fan. And what is he out? $200 for the ticket, and $8 for the beer? It could be more, of course, as seats THAT good are probably season tickets, and the fan(s) involved should be banned from The Palace for the season as well, if not for life.
The winner in all this is the NBA, who by leveling swift and harsh justice have restored their image quickly.
