Nixon's Memoirs: And there was sadness in the Sooner Nation

And there was sadness in the Sooner Nation

We had a great crowd at the Embassy Suites for the Orange bowl, over twenty OU faithful gathered to cheer on our Sooners, and for about five minutes, we were mighty happy.

The USC done did us wrong.

It was made worse by a small group of drunken "Sooner haters" who had different alma-maters, none of which were USC, but had all come and decided to root against us just for the fun of it. And root they did, even going so far as mock us by yelling "Boomer!" whenever USC scored a touchdown.

The crowd had dwindled to about six or seven by the time the game mercifully ended. I still love my Sooners, though, and am proud of the fact that I was the only OU club member to make every single watch party this season. We lose a LOT of talent this year, and next season doesn't seem to be near as promising. I'll root for OU nonetheless.

The treadmill is ordered, but they were out of stock, so it'll be next week before I can start that. I finished off the last of the 2004 Diet Coke yesterday, so its juice, tea, water and coffee from here on out, but mostly juice and water.

I'm now ranked #61 in the world on Scrabble Online, though I doubt seriously that will continue for very long, as I'm sure the number of online players will increase as more people buy the game.

So, congratulations to the USC Trojans, the Auburn Tigers, and the Utah Utes for their undefeated seasons.

We started to watch the game as well until the USC lead. My wife then frantically said she couldnt watch it anymore and the channel was mercifully changeed.

My condolences, dude. Holler at me sometime and we'll go get lunch!

That was painful to watch, I do not like USC anymore than you do and they are really that good. At least you all have football team. Stoops will have a few more years before we can compete.

congratulations on giving up carbonated beverages! when i first did that (like 2 years ago) i lost like 10 lbs in the first week. it was really crazy that something you drink could be that big of a factor. i have a diet coke like once a week now, the rest of the time it's water or orange juice.

i've talked to the guys at premere fitness a few times, mostly because i'm at the gym next door just about everyday. good people! i'm also enduring a treadmill torture - 4 days a week at least - and i'm seeing more results than ever before.

dr. phil says to keep your new years resolution it's not about willpower, it's about programming. and it looks to me like you are doing well in your reprogramming! good luck to you! maybe when we both reach our goals, we can go get an ice cream sundae. hehe!

oh and about that USC team got wholloped by them the year before at the rose bowl. they are just a really really good team...and i guess just as dangerous next year as well. maybe in 2006? :D

I am a big sooner fan, yesterday at the Friday rise and shine at my kids school all the kindergarters on stage had on OU shirts and OU do rags and said "we still love our sooners!" as part of their program it was very cute.
